Leaders in Family Law

Academy Fellows are highly skilled and sophisticated negotiators and litigators who help their clients in every aspect of family and matrimonial law. Fellows teach, lecture, and write in the field of family law. Fellows are routinely called upon to assist the General Assembly in crafting legislation and offering testimony in support of and sometimes in opposition to draft bills on topics of family law so that the needs of all Pennsylvanians can be better served. Fellows are also leaders in their local communities, where many serve as volunteers and board members for nonprofit and religious organizations that promote the public good. Fellows also have a long tradition of serving in leadership positions in the Pennsylvania Bar Association, specifically its Board of Governors and its Family Law Section. Markets today are a study in contrasts, and untangling them means looking at the good, the bad, and the ugly all at once.

The Good. The US economy keeps proving its resilience, absorbing shock after shock; most recently the US/Iran war and its ripple effects on refined petroleum prices. Corporate earnings remain strong, even when you strip out the outsized boost that private AI company investments are giving to GAAP results. And capital markets are wide open: companies are issuing equity and debt without much trouble, even with interest rates elevated.

The Bad. Higher costs are squeezing both consumers and businesses. The clearest sign is in residential housing, where transaction volume has slowed sharply as mortgage rates sit near cycle highs. On the corporate side, companies are working overtime to find substitutes and efficiencies just to keep a lid on rising costs for goods and services.

The Ugly. The real long-term concern is fiscal. Sovereign governments around the world are seeing their fiscal positions deteriorate further, with deficit spending climbing and no credible path to balanced budgets in sight. Global bond markets are taking notice, demanding higher yields in response to larger deficits and inflation that refuses to fully cool. The result is upward pressure on borrowing costs across the board for governments, corporations, and individuals alike.

Put together, it's an economy that's still standing tall on the surface, straining under rising costs in the middle, and facing a slow-building fiscal reckoning underneath. Resilience is real, but so are the cracks. Conservest Capital Advisors, Inc.
